Prince Karl Franz is sent to university at Heidelberg to finish his studies. There, among flower gardens and his fellow students, he falls deliriously in love with Kathie, the innkeeper’s daughter. The costumes for director Scott Skiba’s modern adaptation of the classic operetta embraces modern university prep with Bavarian details, all set beneath the warm string lights of a charming biergarten.

Based on the Greek myth, Orpheus, mourning the loss of his wife Eurydice, appeals to the Gods that he might travel to Hades to save her, but he must first navigate through the spirits of the dead. This minimalist artistic production explored impactful design, highlighting the emotional and physical performances of each character, whether they be dead, alive, or immortal Gods.
